Discovered 1938, onshore Saudi Arabia, the first commercial oil in the kingdom.

Overview

Dammam No. 7, later called the Prosperity Well, struck commercial oil in March 1938 after six disappointing wells by the California Arabian Standard Oil Company. The well kept producing for decades. The find set Saudi Arabia on the path to becoming the largest oil exporter in the world.
