Greater Burgan Field
Discovered 1938, onshore Kuwait, capacity around 1.7 million barrels per day.
Overview
The second largest conventional oil field in the world and the largest sandstone reservoir producer. Burgan, Ahmadi and Magwa make up the greater structure. Iraqi forces torched over 600 wellheads in 1991, the worst oil field destruction in history, yet full production returned within two years. It has produced oil continuously since 1946.
